Going into this we understood that making the presentation engaging is just as important as the content of the training itself.

Insight
Addepar's wealth management product is flexible and robust, so often there's a number of ways to arrive at the same answer. The product concepts and logic are not always intuitive at first glance. While product designers are committed to the heavy lift of enhancing the onboarding experience and intuitiveness of the software, it's important that we have something for people now. Most online training courses tend to come across as boring, outdated, and poorly designed which make people dread them.

Concept

We decided that a structured video with visual cues and patterns combined with a business casual approach would work well. We ran drafts through subject matter experts to confirm the content was accurate and the stylistic choices would resonate with our audience. We aimed for friendly expert.

Solution

We worked with smooth transitions, bright hand drawn accents, effective copy for voice actors with friendly professional tones, and animation to illuminate concepts and delight. All together, we created 15+ videos that have a consistent warm visual language and tone.

Animated gifs were created to be used on slack and in the emails that gave details leading up to the event.
